We Love Custom Orders

It started out like this. The request was for navy or midnight blue with classic J. Crew style. We were lucky to find this fabric on our first day of hunting. And she loved it! Large Bette Bag here we come.

Then it was time to choose embellishments. These were the final color selections. Crochet, crochet, crochet.

Ta-da! The finished product. I'm so happy with how this bag turned out. Here's what the customer had to say:

"Yes, I did get the bags and I LOVE them! Thank you so very much! The custom bag that you made for me is so beautiful and perfect! The bags really are works of art (and I actually am going to add them to our homeowners insurance inventory list of important/valuable items). Thank you for sharing your talent..."

THANK YOU Road77Queen! It's a great feeling when someone recognizes and appreciates your talent.

This is the other bag she purchased. Hooray! I love this fabric and it makes me happy when someone else likes it too. I don't have a bag made out of this yet. Hmmm?

We love custom orders. The collaboration makes it truly your very own one-of-a-kind handbag.

Mother Goose

The fair maid who, the first of May,
Goes to the fields at break of day,
And washes in dew from the hawthorn-tree,
Will ever after handsome be.

Once upon a time, many, many months ago I found some FANTASTIC upholstery fabric. I had visions of how fabulous it would be. The only problem was I didn't know what I wanted to embellish it with. I had enough for two bags. DD knew exactly what she wanted, so I made her bag embellishments and all. And it turned out great! Much time passed and I finally decided to make up my own version. In the meantime I had designed a new style, The Bette, and that is where I got stuck. What should I put on it? What colors should I use? I stewed and fretted. After pain, blood, tears and too many crocheted flowers I had a rough idea about what it might look like.

When it was all said and done, my first thought was that I had created a Mother Goose Bag. It looks just like the nursery rhymes I used to know from my childhood. I still love the fabric, but I'm not sure I love the bag. I'll use it everyday for a while. The lining was another struggle, but I'm pleased with what I chose. The best part of this bag is the pocket material. I found a quarter flat that I fell in live with. The photo doesn't do it justice.

I've already started planning my next personal project. I've just got to let my stitching fingers heal little first.

Silk Wonderfulness

We fell in LOVE with this silk a long time ago. D.D. has a bag made out of it. It makes the most gorgeous rosettes! I love how this Bette Bag turned out.  We found this upholstery fabric last weekend while picking up some last minute costume accoutrements, and immediately came up with the concept for this bag.  I have a feeling we'll both be fighting over who gets to use this bag first.
